With a record number of rental units planned for 2007, Miami-based Pinnacle Housing Group celebrated its 10th year of building affordable housing in January.
The company prides itself on incorporating public art into its apartment towers. The latest, called Los Sueños in Miami's Wynwood neighborhood, includes a four-story tall Romero Britto sculpture. Titled "Love Blossom," the artwork required more than 20 bolts to attach it to the exterior of the 179-unit apartment building in order to withstand hurricane winds.
"We want to give our residents a sense of pride," Pinnacle partner David O. Deutch said of their arts commitment. "We don't want to just build the bare minimum."
Pinnacle is led by four equal partners:
· Deutch, "the banker," layers the many levels of financing required to build a tower.
· Michael D. Wohl, "the land baron," finds the dirt to put the deal together.
· Mitchell M. Friedman, "the executioner," serves as project manager, coordinating property management and
politics to get the development done.
· Louis Wolfson, "the art czar," works on building the big picture as the public face of the company, as well as filling
in the details of Pinnacle's public arts program.
Pinnacle has completed nearly 3,900 units in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, plus other parts of the state. An additional 900 units will break ground this year in Miami-Dade and Broward, the company said.
On Jan. 31, the company was scheduled to break ground on the 135-unit Pinnacle Park, at 7901 N.W. Seventh Ave., in Miami.
