NBC6 reports on The Village of Casa Familia, a specialized community in Miami-Dade designed for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism and traumatic brain injuries. Pinnacle is partnering with nonprofit Casa Familia to develop The Gardens at Casa Familia, a $27 million second residential phase created to empower these adults to live independently.
The development features a four-story building with 50 one-bedroom apartments. These units are equipped with smart-home technology to enhance resident safety and autonomy. The campus design is highly intentional, utilizing soundproof doors and windows to accommodate residents with sensory sensitivities.
The development is supported by a public-private collaboration including Bank of America, Miami-Dade County, and the Florida Housing Finance Corporation. Residents benefit from affordability measures where they pay only 30% of their income for housing through county rent subsidies. Construction on this phase is expected to reach completion in the first quarter of 2027.
